Casement windows, tilt & turn windows and vertical sliding windows
The second phase of Oxford University’s Saïd Business School was officially opened in February 2013 and features a range of high performance doors and windows. Developed around a central staircase, the new building provides high quality facilities for executive education and MBA students.
Over 685m² of aluminium systems were used across the building, including patio doors and tilt & turn, casement windows, doors and frames, all finished in polyester powder coated grey to reflect the overall design scheme of the development.
A striking feature of the new building’s external façade is an 8.2 metre run of sliding doors, installed in an unusual ‘zigzag’ formation. Elsewhere, patio and sliding doors have also been used to provide a similar feeling of light and space to the meeting and dining rooms, some with access to external and others to internal balcony areas.
Continuing the design theme, the casement and tilt & turn windows and single and double doors were installed where possible without mullions or transoms to accentuate the systems’ slim lines. Finally an imposing aluminium double door leads students, staff and visitors from the building’s reception area to the central staircase and the impressive facilities beyond.
